Will Saif Ali Khan star in the adaptation of Shimla Coffee House?

The director may cast Saif Ali Khan in the adaptation of Shimla Coffee House, a psycho-comic play directed by Rakesh Bedi.

Director Pradeep Sarkar, known for making women-centric films such as Parineeta, Mardaani and Laaga Chunari Main Daag may go for a slightly off-beat subject with his next film. Word is the filmmaker is considering the script of a play — Shimla Coffee House — for his next directorial outing. The play, directed by seasoned theatre and film personality Rakesh Bedi, has been garnering good reviews since 2014.

According to sources, Pradeep met Rakesh to discuss the script, the outcome of which is yet to be known. If the association does come through, Pradeep is keen on casting Saif in the film.

Says the source, “Shimla Coffee House is a story of a small coffee joint somewhere on the foothills of Shimla, managed by a waiter called Satish Kashyap.

A writer often visits the joint to write his popular series of short stories. During one such visit, he meets an ardent fan who picks out problematic elements in the story. The disagreement escalates into a fight, dragging in the waiter. It’s a psycho-comic drama and depicts the influence of literature on society and vice versa. “
