Nawab Saif Ali Khan on paternity break till mid-January

On Thursday, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor brought home their two-day old son, Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, from Breach Candy hospital. The new parents left the hospital at 3.30 pm and posed for pictures with the newborn after arriving at their residence in Bandra.

For now, the doting daddy who made a style statement with his green scrubs, is on paternity leave. He will resume work only in mid-January when he flies abroad for a schedule of Raja Krishna Menon’s ‘Chef’. The director who has just completed a recce abroad, says they have completed 80 percent of the film and have just one more schedule to go.

“It will be a wrap by mid-February. In India we’ve already shot across Kerala and Goa, besides Delhi and Amritsar. I have just completed the recce in the US and Europe. By next week we’ll decide where we will go for the final shoot, it will be one of these two destinations. We are yet to shoot the climax and the destination plays an important part, that shoot will kick off by mid-January” he informed.

Saif steps into Jon Favreau’s shoes for the Hindi remake of the Hollywood gastronomical comedy-drama which revolves around a professional chef who after a public altercation with a food critic quits his job at a popular Los Angeles restaurant and returns to his home town, Miami, to fix up a food truck. On the culinary journey that leads to Los Angeles, he reconnects with his estranged ex-wife and young son while selling Cubanos in cities along the way. The role was played to perfection by filmmaker-actor Jon Favreau who had also written, produced and directed the film. Although Raja has earlier told Mirror that his film isn’t an exact remake of the original.

“In our film, the chef travels all over India with his truck. The international schedule was planned recently,” admitted Raja, who has spoken to Saif after the birth of his son but hasn’t seen Taimur yet.
