Saif Ali Khan to star in Sriram Raghavan’s next?

Saif Ali Khan is known for his interesting choice of projects. The last time we met the Baazaar actor, he had explained the thought behind it and told us, “Today, I’m in a position where I can try doing something out of the box. I’m at that stage of my career where I should only pick up subjects that I think will be different and that’s what I’m doing currently.”

The Nawab of Pataudi is currently juggling the shoots of Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior, in which he plays the antagonist, and Sacred Games, where he is one of the main leads. Now, we hear that he is in talks for Sriram Raghavan’s next. A source says, “Sriram is planning two scripts — one is the biopic on Param Vir Chakra awardee Arun Khetarpal, titled Ekkis, while the other is a thriller. He and Saif had been discussing about doing a film together for some time. Recently, when they met, the filmmaker bounced off the ideas to the actor. The latter liked both the stories and they have decided to collaborate on one of the projects.”

Our source adds, “Ekkis will mostly have a young actor playing the late lieutenant. There’s also another prominent role in the biopic, which suits Saif. If not this, the actor-director pair will definitely work on the thriller next. They are currently deciding which one to do first. The film is expected to go on floors in 2019.”

This will be the duo’s third collaboration after Ek Hasina Thi (2004) and Agent Vinod (2012). However, when we contacted Sriram, he declined to confirm the same. He stated, “AndhaDhun has just completed 50 days at the box office and we have all been caught up with it. I haven’t got the time to start working on my next immediately. I hope to start a film in 2019. I’m planning two scripts, but we haven’t locked the cast for them yet. We have been talking to different people. We will finalise things in a few weeks from now.”
