Love the simplicity of Saif Ali Khan’s look in ‘Chef’: Director Raja Krishna Menon

Posted in Movies with tags , , , , , on September 13, 2017 by saifalikhanonline

Director Raja Krishna Menon said he wanted a very casual yet creative look for actor Saif Ali Khan in the forthcoming film ‘Chef’. He said he loves the simplicity of the look that was finalised for Saif’s character. Saif will be seen playing a chef in the film.

“While styling Roshan Kalra (Saif), I wanted a very casual creative every day look so naturally, we veered towards shorts with T-shirts or shirts, jeans – clothes that you would see a young father wear nowadays… It’s simple but that’s what I love about it,” Menon said in a statement.
.
The film promises to take the audience on a journey of a successful chef and his son, who stays with his mother and craves for his father’s attention and time. It is based on Jon Favreau’s Hollywood movie ‘Chef’.
.
‘Chef” also stars Svar Kamble, Padmapriya and Chandan Roy Sanyal. It is slated to release on October 6.

Back in 2014, when Jon Favreau’s Chef released, filmmaker Raja Krishna Menon went to watch it one evening with two of his friends. Coming back home, they wanted to do all that the chef did in the movie, buy a food truck and everything. Listening to them talk, Raja’s son came and said, “You guys are talking like little kids who watched a superhero movie.” So three years later, when producer Vikram Malhotra asked if Raja would be interested to direct the Hindi adaptation of the film, he said yes and put Saif Ali Khan as his chef. After that he was not sure how he could adapt it. He had only worked on original screenplays before. And this was an official remake, the producers had got the rights. But then Raja sat with his writer mates Suresh Nair and Ritesh Shah and together found a way out.

After working together in around eight films between 1994 and 2008, Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Tashan being the most notable of the lot, Saif Ali Khan is reuniting with Akshay Kumar on the latter’s upcoming comedy show, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Akshay, who plays the super boss on the show along with mentors, comedians Mallika Dua, Zakir Khan and writer-actor Hussain Dalal, will welcome Saif as a star guest in the first episode. A source associated with the show indicated, “Tech rehearsals kick off on Wednesday while the episode featuring the duo will be shot on Thursday.

The idea is to recreate fun moments from their films, especially the 1990s potboilers. They are expected to shake a leg to the title track of Main Khiladi Tu Anari and share anecdotes from other films.” Akshay and Saif were last seen together on screen in the end credits song of Bombay Talkies, back in 2013 an anthology of four short films by Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee.
