Saif Ali Khan: Tabu will be hysterical in her part in Jawaani Jaaneman

Posted in Movies with tags , , , , , on May 8, 2019 by saifalikhanonline

Though most may associate her with deeply nuanced roles, Tabu – with her outings in Biwi No 1 (1999) and Golmaal Again (2017) – has displayed her flair for comedy. Now, the actor will tap into her comic side again as she joins Saif Ali Khan in Jawaani Jaaneman, his first home production under the banner of Black Knight Films. She has been roped in for a pivotal role in the Nitin Kakkar-directed family comedy that sees debutante Alaia F playing Khan’s teenage daughter.

Essaying a 40-something father who refuses to act his age, Khan is glad to reunite with Tabu after Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999) and Biwi No 1 (1999). “Tabu is a brilliant actor. This part is funny on paper, and I’m pleased that she has agreed to play it as now it will be hysterical,” says the actor-producer. While their previous offerings did not see them opposite each other, he refuses to reveal if they are romantically paired in their latest collaboration.

The addition to the cast comes only weeks before the unit heads off to London for a 45-day schedule. Producer Jay Shewakramani reveals that Kakkar had, in fact, written the part with Tabu in mind. A quick meeting with the actor was all it took to earn her nod. “Tabu is a close friend, so it wasn’t difficult approaching her.

She was always the first choice for Saif, Nitin and me. Fortunately, she
heard the narration and instantly said yes. It’s too early at this stage to reveal her character; all I can say is that she has an extremely special role,” adds the producer.

Saif Ali Khan to shed weight for Jawaani Jaaneman

Undergoing body transformation is one of the key aspects of getting into a role for any actor. Saif Ali Khan built muscles for his look in Taanaji but now he has to shed off all that for Jawaani Jaaneman. He will start work for the film from mid-June in London. It is a 45 days schedule. Known to get under the skin of his characters, Saif Ali Khan underwent intense prep for his role in Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior, which included bulking up and working on a muscular frame for the ambitious period drama. He took lessons in sword fighting and horse riding for hours for the challenging action sequences. Saif Ali Khan will now shed weight to sport a leaner frame for his upcoming next, Jawaani Jaaneman, under his home banner Black Knight Films.

A source informed, “After wrapping up the schedule for Taanaji, Saif is going on a special diet to get leaner. He will train for two hours a day to shed muscle for his role in Jawaani Jaaneman. He starts shooting for the film in London this mid June through a tight 45 day schedule. Given that there’s little time on hand, he will be putting in the extra hours to work on his physique as he steps into the shoes of a middle age man who confronts the harsh reality of his life in the coming of age film.”

Sacred Games will release in August and Navdeep Singh’s next by end of this year. Taanaji will release in early 2020. He also has Jawaani Jaaneman and Shoot Tantrik in his kitty.

Actor Saif Ali Khan, known for his sarcasm and wit, has been roped in for a horror comedy titled Bhoot Police. The actor will uplift the entertainment quotient with his sense of humour, feels director of the film Pavan Kripalani.

“Saif understands the symbolism and the mechanism of working in a horror comedy. I felt that these are things you rarely find in actors. He gets it with a great sense of sarcasm and humour for which he is known for,” says Pavan. “It’s a dream come true for me. This film couldn’t have happened without him. I finally got the right cast,” he adds. Starring Saif, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Ali Fazal, the film will be shot in 3D. Pavan further reveals that Saif is the biggest horror fan.

“We both are on the same page at so many levels in terms of creativity, aesthetics and I was really surprised when I first met him. He revealed that he is actually a horror fan and we connected on the fact that we spoke about M. R. James, who is great horror writer, and I was surprised that there is another person who has read James’ stories. I think Saif is a bigger horror fan than I am,” says the Ragini MMS director.

Further revealing about shooting in 3D he adds, “3D is a learning process but it is a good key to keep hooked. It gives larger than life quality so what better format than 3D. I hope it will be a great ride.”

Saif Ali Khan reveals why he chose Alaia F and not Sara to play his daughter in ‘Jawani Jaaneman’

Posted in Movies with tags , , , , , on April 11, 2019 by saifalikhanonline

Saif Ali Khan is returning to production with his next, Jawani Jaaneman and it is an interesting slice of life movie which will showcase him as a suave middle aged man with a grown up daughter, played by none other than Pooja Bedi’s daughter Alaia F! Now it is incredible that Alaia is making her debut but despite this Saif is asked why he chose her over his real life daughter, Sara Ali Khan who also made her debut last year and gained recognition for her work in Kedarnath and Simmba.

Saif said why he chose Alaia over Sara in his recent media interaction. He said that the makers wanted a fresh face which masses could connect with instantly. Also, he said that Sara is already doing so great on her own and it is too premature for them to team up at this juncture. He claimed that Alaia is perfect for the role and it would be interesting to work with her.

Jawaani Jaanemaan will be shot in London and it is reported that Saif will play a Casanova with a grown up daughter, but he denied it saying that it is a slice of life film with a Modern Family kinda set up. While Saif was busy with shooting for Sacred Games 2 until now, Sara is filming with Imtiaz Ali for Love Aaj Kal 2 with Kartik Aaryan.

Aside from his work, Saif is often spotted with Taimur Ali Khan, as he takes him out to play outdoor sports or is dropping him off to his play school.
