When Saif Ali Khan said Sanjay Dutt should endorse Viagra

Posted in Movies with tags , , , on June 9, 2018 by saifalikhanonline

From Parineeta to the rather forgettable Nehlle Pe Dehlla, Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Dutt have worked together in a handful of films and share a cordial relationship. So it came as quite a surprise when Saif declared Sanjay as the ideal choice to endorse Viagra.

Saif appeared on the second season of Karan Johar’s chat show with his sister, Soha Ali Khan. During the Rapid Fire round, Saif was asked which star would be the “ideal choice” to endorse Viagra, and without missing a beat, he took Sanjay’s name.

Incidentally, in a later episode of the show, featuring Sanjay and his sister Priya Dutt, the Munna Bhai MBBS actor was asked to react to the word ‘Viagra’, and he cryptically responded with, “Yes and no.”

Meanwhile, a biopic on Sanjay is set to hit the screens next month. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Sanju features Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt. Talking about the film, Ranbir had said at the trailer launch, “I was always a Sanjay Dutt fan. So for me, it was like a fan trying to play his icon on-screen.”

Sanju, which also features Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal and Dia Mirza in pivotal roles, is slated to release on June 29, 2018.

Saif Ali Khan’s Sartaj Singh is ““Troubled, sceptical, overtly-honest”

“Roll shot, action!” Vikramaditya Motwane signals toward the over-enthusiastic 50-person crew of Netflix’s much-talked-about crime-drama series, Sacred Games, adapted from best-selling author Vikram Chandra’s gripping 2006 thriller. It was a precursor to a seriously invigorating experience – of watching some of the most incredibly talented people in present-day Bollywood in action on the sets of what is likely to be an amazing series.

The 8-episode series doesn’t only mark its place as the first original on Netflix to be made in India, but also boasts of an ensemble star cast – Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui to name a few. Skilfully woven together by the brilliant Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, the captivating tale follows events that unfold after the death of Mumbai gangster Ganesh Gaitonde, played by Siddiqui. But what’s the life of a gangster without a determined cop hunting him down, right? That’s where Saif Ali Khan’s Sartaj comes in. Sartaj Singh, as per the book, is everything a quintessential cop shouldn’t be. “Troubled, sceptical, overtly-honest,” Saif says, describing his character when we chat with him in between shots. Saif looks every inch the serious Sikh cop – head wrapped in a neatly tied bun, buff in a single-coloured t-shirt, there’s no one else I could imagine playing the role. The plot revolves around these two men, whose lives strangely intersect all throughout the script, until Gaitonde’s darkness finally catches up with him, costing him his life. Post his death as Sartaj investigates the depths of Gaitonde’s life, he’s met with voices from the mafia don’s past, taking him through the reasons of his brutal existence. Deep stuff indeed but it will be interesting to see how the makers do justice to the intense plot in 8 episodes.

Saif Ali Khan starrer Baazaar has been in the pipeline for quite some time now. But after the makers decided to push the film’s release from April 2018, there has been no progress on the film.

A source from the team tells us, “Producer Nikkhil Advani feels there’s a need to re-edit the movie. He’s had discussions with Saif and the director Gauravv K Chawla and is now working on the edit himself.”

‘Sacred Games’ will be true to the book, but expect a more charged Sartaj Singh played by Saif Ali Khan

Streaming platform Netflix’s first original Indian show Sacred Games has been generating high interest, and rightly so.

The eight-episode series, which will be available on Netflix from July 6, is packed with pedigree. Sacred Games has been directed by reputed filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane and has a top-drawer cast that includes Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte. The adaptation of Vikram Chandra’s 2007 novel of the same name revolves around police officers, the Research and Analysis Wing, the underworld, corrupt politicians, shady godmen, and a nuclear bomb. Netflix’s involvement will ensure that Indian talent gets a global platform – even though the novel is in English and the series will mostly be in Hindi.

Saif Ali Khan’s Go Goa Gone sequel to be based on aliens instead of zombies?

Posted in Movies with tags , , , , , , , , on May 28, 2018 by saifalikhanonline

With Go Goa Gone, the Indian audiences got to see something they never experienced in Bollywood before. The film, directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, referred to as a Zom-Com ( Zombie – Comedy) was based on three friends and how their trip to Goa turns into their biggest nightmare. The film starred Saif Ali Khan, Vir Das, Kunal Kemmu, Puja Gupta and Anand Tiwari in leading roles. Ever since the film released back in 2013, rumours were rife that we will soon see a sequel to the film and also the fact that the film ended in a cliff hanger made the audience more sure about it.

From what we hear the director duo are ready with the script for the sequel, in which will see a massive change from the first part. Instead of zombies, the sequel will have aliens in the film. In an interview with a leading daily, the makers were asked about the same. Krinsha DK replied saying, “We are debating (on that part), may be not. The humour is in discovery. Earlier they (characters) were trying to figure out what is a zombie. Now it might become too dramatic. We are just toying with the idea. The idea of the film was not about zombies but discovering something alien.” Raj Nidimoru also further confirmed that they are done with the script and now are just looking to lock in the dates with the star cast. He said, “We are now figuring out when to do it. It’s all about getting the dates.”

Kunal Kemmu confirmed that the star cast of the film will remain the same. He also suggested that the theme for part two may not revolve around zombies. However, the unit hasn’t entirely eliminated the concept.
