Posted in Movies with tags , , , , , on December 10, 2018 by saifalikhanonline

Netflix’ Sacred Games is undoubtedly one of the best web series we have seen so far on the digital platform in India. The first season received a great response and now we are eagerly waiting for the second season of the show which is currently being shot in Mumbai and Kenya simultaneously. The show is already bringing home some big awards. Recently, at Asiatec Awards in Singapore, the web series won two awards including Best Director (Anurag Kashyap) and Best Editor (Aarti Bajaj). Kashyap took to Instagram to share this good news with the fans of the web series.

Kashyap attended the award function to receive the honour and revealed, through Instagram, that Sacred Games received seven nominations which is highest for a web series at the award function. We are sure this is just the beginning and Sacred Games will be winning many more such awards. Thanks to the fantastic first season, fans of the web series are super excited for the second season. While Saif Ali Khan is shooting for the web series in Mumbai, Nawaz is working on his portions in Kenya.

The show was hit with a fair bit of trouble too. There were #MeToo allegations against the writer of the show Varun Grover. Reportedly, Netflix was planning to shelve the second season but conducted due diligence before restarting shoot again. Now we wait for an official announcement for the release date of season 2.

Sacred Games Season 2: Nawazuddin Siddiqui shoots in Nairobi, while Saif Ali Khan in Mumbai

Even as Netflix’s celebrated series Sacred Games continues to dominate pop culture conversations, the makers have dived headlong into the shoot of the second season. The show’s production template remains the same as the first edition — director Anurag Kashyap weaves the world of Ganesh Gaitonde, essayed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Neeraj Ghaywan will helm Sartaj Singh aka Saif Ali Khan’s narrative. Vikramaditya Motwane will be the showrunner, this time around. In an interesting turn of events, Siddiqui’s track has taken him to Kenya — the actor and Kashyap have been shooting in Nairobi over the past fortnight.

A source said, “The show intercuts between Sartaj in Mumbai and Gaitonde in Kenya. The first edition ended with Gaitonde escaping from prison. This instalment sees him seeking refuge in Kenya where he eventually rises to power as a crime lord. The unit has planned a straight 50-day schedule there.”

Those joining the Kenya unit include Elnaaz Nourozi, who will reprise her role as Zoya, and Marathi actor Amruta Subhash. “This season will explore the link between Zoya and Gaitonde. The team might also recreate Mumbai in Nairobi and film a few key sequences there.” Meanwhile, Khan and Ghaywan have taken Sartaj Singh’s narrative ahead in the bylanes of South Mumbai. “They will be shooting till the month-end,” adds the source.

After being compared several times to Narcos, the stars of Sacred Games finally met their Hollywood counterparts. Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui of the acclaimed Indian Netflix original series posed and clicked pictures with the stars of upcoming third season of the hit Netflix show, Narcos: Mexico, Diego Luna and Michael Pena.

Luna and Pena are in Mumbai to promote their show and were seen with Saif, Nawaz and the directors of Sacred Games, Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane at a special event organised by Netflix. The two were recently at Netflix’s See What’s Next Asia event in Singapore where they talked about their show at length.

“I live in a Mexico where there is violence. The numbers are crazy. I hope the show will inspire people to go back and find out more about this. It is an issue we all have,” Luna said at the Singapore event. He plays notorious drug lord Felix Gallardo in the show and was recently seen in Star Wars: Rogue One with Felicity Jones.

Sacred Games season 2 out of trouble, Saif Ali Khan starrer cleared after ‘independent investigation’

Contrary to reports, Sacred Games, starring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, will continue with season 2 as per an announcement made by the OTT platform it is aired on.

When sexual harassment allegations were made against filmmaker Vikas Bahl, they not only resulted in Phantom, his company with Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena, being dissolved, but also put a question mark on the next season of Sacred Games, which was being produced by the now-defunct company. However, it has now been revealed that the popular series will continue and see a second season.

In a statement made by the OTT platform that airs Sacred Games, it was announced that after an “independent investigation”, the platform has taken the decision to continue with Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap on season 2 of Sacred Games. “We continue to collaborate with our production partners to ensure and maintain a safe and respectful working environment,” read the statement.

Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Sacred Games’ Season 2 in jeopardy

Strong rumours suggest that the much-appreciated web series Sacred Games (based on Vikram Chandra’s novel by the same name), starring Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddique and Radhika Apte, may not have its second season.

It’s funny how until yesterday, things seemed to be on course for this Netflix original. In fact, a trade source had told us, “Director Anurag Kashyap has spoken to the Netflix team and even met with some of the important office-bearers overseas and Season 2 is definitely on.”

We were even informed that Anurag and his only partner Vikramaditya Motwane, who are also co-directing the series, would actually be getting paid much more for it. Even the actors were expected to get a spike in their remuneration.

Sacred Games 2 starring Saif Ali Khan now confirmed

Posted in Movies with tags , , , , , , , , on September 22, 2018 by saifalikhanonline

Netflix India on Friday announced that Sacred Games, the crime drama based on Vikram Chandra’s epic novel, had been renewed for a second season following a hugely popular first batch of eight episodes. While the accompanying teaser video revealed no new footage or lines of dialogue, it did suggest that Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s gangster, Ganesh Gaitonde, would be returning in some capacity.

Details for the hugely anticipated second season, which pick up from where the finale abruptly left off, have been rare. At the end of season one, Inspector Sartaj Singh had stumbled upon a major breakthrough in his investigation of Gaitonde’s claims that Mumbai would imminently be attacked. Gaitonde had given Sartaj 25 days to ‘save his city’ – of which 14 are still remaining.
