Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan turns 46 on August 16. In a film career that spans 24 years and 60 movies, Khan has managed to rise to the top and become a fan favorite.

The actor stems from royalty as his father, late cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan, was the Nawab of Pataudi. In a November 2011 ceremony, Khan was crowned with this title. His mother, Sharmila Tagore, will go down in history as one of the most beautiful and talented actresses of our time. Saif Ali Khan turns 45, says ageing does not scare him

As he celebrates his 45th birthday today, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan says he isn’t scared of getting older and loves being his age.

“Age doesn’t scare me at all. I love being 45 it is a great age,” Saif said.

The actor said he is going to have a quiet birthday with his family.

“I don’t have specific plans for my birthday. I will celebrate it with my children…Wife… My family,” he said.

Saif, who will be next seen in Kabir Khan’s action thriller “Phantom”, stressed on the importance of leading a healthy and responsible lifestyle.

“It is important to lead healthy life. It is also important for one to be a responsible person,” the actor said.

Saif, the son of the former Indian cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan and the actress Sharmila Tagore, has starred in films like “Main Khiladi Tu Anari”, “Yeh Dillagi”, “Dil Chahta Hai”, “Kal Ho Naa Ho”, “Race”, “Parineeta”, ” Being Cyrus”, “Omkara” and “Love Aaj Kal”. In 2009, Saif branched out into film production with his company Illuminati Films.

He is the recipient of several awards, including a National Film Award. He was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Shri in 2010.

Saif was earlier married to actress Amrita Singh for thirteen years; they have two children together. He tied the knot with actress Kareena Kapoor in 2012.

Sharmila Tagore, who made her debut in 1959 as a child-bride in Satyajit Ray’s Apur Sansar turns 70 today. She proved her forte in acting after giving hits like Aradhana, Safar, Amar Prem, Chhoti Bahu, Daag and Avishkaar and Mausam, for which she won the National Film Award. Today, having moved away from the limelight, she indulges in gardening, music and reading. As an actress, who regaled the Indian audience for 55 years, she looks back with much pleasure and a life well lived. Excerpts:

You brought in your birthday at Ranthambore?

Yes, with the entire family. Tiger (Pataudi) and I always enjoyed the outdoors. We’ve been to a lot of sanctuaries together. I wanted to visit this one.

What are your thoughts as you complete 70?

It’s really about taking one day at a time. I try to enjoy every moment of the time I have. Earlier I never looked back on my life. Even now I’m not a great one for retrospection. But now when I see my life I am very appreciative of all the goodwill and the opportunities.
