Aankhen 2 seems to be the casting coup of this year. While Katrina Kaif has given her nod of approval, other cast members are being finalised at a rapid pace. From what we hear, Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan have been approached for the lead roles. Apart from Katrina, Jacqueline Fernandez is also in talks to sign up as one of the main female leads. Seems interesting!

Remember the time Jacqueline Fernandez confessed that Salman Khan had promised her another film? Well, Khan is a man of his word and has offered her the leading role in Jugalbandi, the third production under his banner, Salman Khan Films (SKF) opposite Saif Ali Khan. Initially, Parineeti Chopra’s name was attached to the project as the female lead.
A source confirms the development. “Salman felt Jacqueline fit the bill perfectly and asked her to come on board.” This happened right after Baba Siddique’s iftaar party when onlookers saw the actress sharing a dinner table with the ‘Khan’daan.
A source close to the heroine says, “Jackie is very fond of Salman and she can’t say no to him. Plus, she has liked the script. So she will be doing the film. Currently, she has asked her team to work out the dates for the film.”
Jacqueline, who is busy promoting Brothers, will soon start filming Dishoom opposite Varun Dhawan and John Abraham and Flying Jat opposite Tiger Shroff, almost simultaneously. She also has Housefull 3 on her plate. With such a choc-a-bloc schedule, she will need to find time for Jugalbandi, expected on floors end-2015.
This would mean another blow for Parineeti Chopra, who has had no releases since Kill Dil last November. Not just that, she has not even signed anything yet. “Pari had only been in talks for Jugalbandi with Saif Ali Khan. Now with this also landing in Jacqueline’s lap, Parineeti has no films in hand, except Sultan maybe for which her mentor Aditya Chopra is rooting for his protégée.” But then again, After Hrs has earlier reported that Salman wants Kriti Sanon in place of Pari in Sultan. Will Pari lose out on the YRF project as well? We don’t know yet!
It is indeed a Happy Ending for the Nawab who gets a yes for his next as Suspect X gets a go-ahead from the producer. Based on the Japanese thriller The Devotion of Suspect X, the film to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh was heard to be shelved owing to creative differences between the makers. Last three films of Saif Ali Khan failing at the box office was also heard to be the reason for the delay. But Balaji Motion Pictures have cleared the rumours saying the pre-production for the film will start from April with Saif remaining the lead. The actor plays a Mathematics Professor in the film which will mostly have Jacqueline in the female lead. Sujoy is busy with Durga Rani Singh will start Suspect X next.
The director, who had a fallout with the actress, has returned to her with the script of his next thriller after Jacqueline Fernandez bowed out of the film.
In yet another case that illustrates the age-old maxim that there are no permanent friends or foes in the film industry, Sujoy Ghosh, who recently had a bitter fight with Kangana Ranaut, has returned to her with his next script. The Ekta Kapoor-produced thriller, The Devotion of Suspect X, has now reached the Queen actress who was recently given a narration.
According to a source close to the production house, Sujoy’s Aladin heroine Jacqueline Fernandez, was in contention for the role, but the dates couldn’t be worked out as she starts shooting for Rohit Dhawan’s action thriller, Dishoom, co-starring John Abraham and Varun Dhawan around the same time. “Kangana is ideal for the part and can juggle her dates in April,” points out the source. The part on offer is the role of a mother with an eight-year-old child who becomes the prime suspect in her husband’s murder. “Sujoy needs a heroine desperately and requested Kangana to read the script. She really liked the role and will take a final call in the coming weeks.”
It may be recalled that after Vidya Balan walked out of Sujoy’s dream project Durga Rani Singh, the director took the role of a 35-year-old mother of a teenage paralytic girl, to Kangana. The actress had agreed to star in the project but then opted out following several differences. The project has since been in a limbo.
Sujoy has been runing helter skelter to find the female lead for Suspect X too. A deal with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan fell through and Deepika Padukone told Balaji that she could give dates only in 2016. Parineeti Chopra too was approached but things didn’t work out with her either.
“Everyone’s hopeful that Kangana will come onboard Suspect X,” our source said.
If she does, she will paired with Saif Ali Khan who she was to romance in Reema Kagti’s Mr. Chaloo but he dropped out of the film over remuneration issues.
For the Hindi adaptation of the book The Devotion of Suspect X, Sujoy Ghosh has finally put the cast together. After spending a lot of time with Saif Ali Khan discussing the script at length, the two joined forces for this film.
However, the leading lady was not getting finalised for the longest time. Sujoy was in talks with both Deepika Padukone and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the role. However, Deepika cited date issues whereas the former Miss World turned it down.
But their loss seems to be Jaqueline Fernandez’s gain. A source tells us that she has now been finalised as the leading lady opposite Saif. The film will be a romantic thriller. The book has already been adapted into Japanese and Korean films respectively. A project in Hollywood is being planned.
Jacqueline and Saif have earlier worked together in Race 2. As for Sujoy, he will be working with Jackie again after Aladin in 2009, in which he had given her a break. Sujoy met her recently and talks have reached the advanced stages. Now we can confirm that Jacqueline has given her nod to the project.
