Nikkhil Advani Clarifies If Saif Ali Khan Starrer ‘Baazaar’ is not inspired by Wolf of Wall Street

A lot of fizzle is doing rounds in the B-town ever since the First Look poster of Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘Baazaar’ was released a few weeks ago. More so, as many industry people pointed how the movie could be well INSPIRED a lot by Hollywood film ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’. But now producer Nikkhil Advani denies all of it.

The basic story plot of the movie does revolve around stock market and trading but that clearly doesn’t mean that the movie grabs INSPIRATION from Leonardo Di Caprio’s Hollywood flick ‘The Wold Of Wall Street’. This is cleared away by the movie’s producer Nikkhil Advani who says, “Baazaar is about people who will always choose money over love and has a lot of research work behind it.”

On being asked if it is inspired at all, Nikkhil says, “Absolutely not. Not at all. But I hope when you see the film you say we have matched up to that scale and achieved something brilliant. Why do we have to go to the West when everything is in the books over here.”

‘Baazaar’ will show Saif Ali Khan playing the role of a street-smart and agile Gujarati business man and the movie also marks the Bollywood debut of late actor Vinod Mehra’s son, Rohan Mehra. He is there in the silhouette of the poster and plays an important role in the movie.

Kya Kehna turns 17: Saif Ali Khan recalls how Preity Zinta talked non-stop during the shoot

As Kya Kehna completes 17 years of its release today, actor Saif Ali Khan talks about co-star Preity Zinta’s energy, and how he had a wardrobe malfunction while shooting for the film.

Filmmaker Kundan Shah’s Kya Kehna, which released in 2000, was touted to be a film way ahead of its time. Starring Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan and Chandrachur Singh in the lead roles, it was about an unwed girl who gets pregnant. Saif played the role of Preity’s lover in the film who leaves her on learning about her pregnancy. The actor says it was this bad boy character that made him come on board.

“The unique part about my character was that it was a slightly negative role, which was quite dynamic. The role was that of a bad boy. The girl falls for him and he dumps her,” says Saif.

Talking about how filmmaker Kundan Shah made it interesting for him to make sense of the character, Saif narrates, “He is not your typical commercial director. He needed to find a story for the guy. He said a person who treats girls like this must have an issue with his mother. So, he wrote a scene where my character confronts his mother, and in a Freudian way, accuses her of being with other men. It was a different angle, but later, one of the producers found it too much and cut it from the film.”

Saif Ali Khan’s next, Bazaar, is based on the cocktail of a city life and stock trading, and the actor seems excited about it. The director Gauravv K. Chawla announced the film , and we even saw a glimpse of Saif’s formal look and grey hair do with the first poster. However, not all seems to be well with the movie. Says a close source, “Recently, the producer Nikkhil Advani, and Saif’s talent agency received a threat call from an unknown individual, who isn’t very happy with the movie.”

A spokesperson of Emmay Entertainment confirmed in an official statement, “We understand that our colleagues at Exceed Talent Management have received threatening emails, whose contents are untrue and unsubstantiated. It appears to be the mischievous work of troublemakers. We have reported the matter to the authorities and are allowing them to address the manner appropriately. There is no disruption caused by this in our relationship with Exceed, its management and talent. We are grateful and excited that our film Baazaar is under aggressive production and are looking forward to its completion soon.”

In the film industry, stars go to great lengths to get the right look for their roles; be it putting on and losing weight in a matter of months or chopping off their mane to get the perfect look. And Chote Nawab Saif Ali Khan is one of them. He has always pushed hard to fit into roles which are diverse in nature and excelled in it.

Dil Chahta Hai
Saif Ali Khan has come a long way since his first film in 1992 and we are glad that he did! He is one of the first stars who underwent an image makeover with his film Dil Chahta Hai and we have Farhan Akhtar to thank. Dil Chahata Hai saw Saif in a new avatar; it was not just his cropped hair but also his comical role that became the talk of the town.

Saif portrayed a true blue metrosexual man in Kal Ho Naa Ho. He dressed in pink, loved to dance, was suave and loved to pamper himself. He was uber cool and urbane and we enjoyed it thoroughly.
