Did you know that Love Aaj Kal (2007) was Saif Ali Khan’s first production? Are you aware of the famous person Florence Brudenell-Bruce (Saif’s onscreen girlfriend in the film ) dated? Here are some unknown facts about the Imtiaz Ali directorial that successfully raked in moolah at the box office.

1. The film for the longest time was called Production Number One and then it was renamed Aaj Kal. It was later titled Elastic, before it finally became Love Aaj Kal.

2. Saif wanted Kareena Kapoor Khan to be paired opposite him, but Imtiaz wanted Deepika and decided to go ahead with his choice.

3.Interestingly, Imtiaz offered the film to Deepika during her modelling days, even before she was signed for her Bollywood debut, Om Shanti Om (2007). But, then Deepika wasn’t keen on acting, and Imtiaz had told her that once she is ready, she can join the film.

Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Love Aaj Kal’ was earlier titled ‘Elastic’, says Imtiaz Ali

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has revealed the title of his romantic drama film “Love Aaj Kal” was earlier “Elastic”.

“‘Window Seat’ was the working title for ‘Tamasha’. For ‘Jab We Met’, the working title was ‘Train’ and for ‘Love Aaj Kal’, it was ‘Elastic’,” the 44-year-helmer told reporters here last evening at the trailer launch of “Tamasha”.

To this actress Deepika Padukone jokingly said, “So it would be like Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in ‘Elastic’.”

Imtiaz has worked with both Deepika in “Love Aaj Kal” and Ranbir Kapoor in “Rockstar”. This time the trio are coming together for “Tamasha”, which will hit the screens on November 27.

“I had a great experience working with them. It is a learning experience for me as a director, when I work with good actors like them,” he added.

The “Highway” director believes in focusing on his present films.

“There is no pressure on me as a director for a film. I don’t worry about my previous film. I work towards giving my best for the film that I am working on,” he said.
