Batla House starring Saif Ali Khan will go on the floor in Sept 2018

The John Abraham, Saif Ali Khan-starrer Batla House, based on the 2008 encounter in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar is set to go on floors in September 2018.

The film will be jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar, Nikkhil Advani and John’s JA Entertainment, analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

Written by Ritesh Shah, Batla House will be filmed in Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mumbai and Nepal.

Advani, who will be directing the cop thriller had said in March 2018 that he has acquired all the necessary NOCs for the film that follows the encounters of Indian Mujahideen terrorists in the Batla House locality of the capital city.

Two suspected terrorists were reportedly gunned down in the September 2008 shootout, two others were arrested while one accused escaped.

John will be seen portraying DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, one of the officers on the task force. He is the recipient of eight President Gallantry Awards. On his character, the Paramanu actor had previously said, “… from what I’ve read, he seems like a humble man with an interesting back story.”

Saif will essay encounter specialist and Delhi Police officer Mohan Chand Sharma, who led the police action and was shot dead during the incident. The actor recently played Mumbai police inspector, Sartaj Singh in the Netflix original Sacred Games.

John Abraham has been roped in for director Nikkhil Advani’s next film which will be based on the real life encounter at Batla House. Abraham will portray the role of DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, who has won eight President Gallantry Awards.

The film goes to floor in September 2018 which added that Advani wants to wrap up the shoot in 50 days. The movie will be shot in Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mumbai and Nepal. Abraham said that he was looking forward to playing the role. He said, “We have yet to meet but I’ve been devouring all the material on him, and from what I’ve read, he seems like a humble man with an interesting back story.”

On working with Advani, he said, “D-Day has put him in a different space and after Madras Café and Parmanu, I understand that space too…. The biggest challenge will be to find the balance between duty and country, that fine line Sanjeev Kumar Yadav walk so perfectly and project it on screen.”

Saif Ali Khan’s Race 2 is too racy for television

According to CBFC the film is unsuitable for the channel’s audience even after cuts

Since its release in 2013, Race 2 has been seen on the small screen multiple times.

But the film starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Anil Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez, has been deemed too racy for the national broadcaster.

The Central Board of Film Certification(CBFC) has decided that the thriller is not appropriate for screening on Doordarshan. The board is of the opinion that the film is unsuitable for the channel’s audience even after cuts because its very theme is too risqué.
