Saif Ali Khan’s Go Goa Gone sequel delayed

Posted in Movies with tags , , , , , , , on March 17, 2019 by saifalikhanonline

There has been much chatter about the Go Goa Gone sequel – while lead actor Saif Ali Khan confirmed last year that the second instalment is in the works, writer-director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK had earlier hinted that the project may roll by mid-2019.

However, the makers have now decided to push the comic caper to next year as getting dates of the ensemble cast – including Kunal Kemmu, Vir Das and Anand Tiwari – is proving to be difficult. Confirming the news, Nidimoru said, “There are a lot of actors and partners involved, so logistically it takes time for such films to go on floors. We are aiming to roll the film early next year. We have given a narration to all the actors, they have loved the story. Now, it is only a matter of logistics.”

After the stupendous success of Stree in 2018, producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films has been looking forward to the next slate of his releases in 2019 with interesting stories. He was even looking forward to the sequel of Go Goa Gone as the producer was happy to collaborate with the cast again especially Saif Ali Khan. But, the dispute with writers and filmmakers of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, the producer decided to part ways with them on the project. While there hasn’t been a clear update on it, Dinesh Vijan has finally spoken about Go Goa Gone 2.

Dinesh Vijan revealed that he has had word with Saif Ali Khan on the sequel. “I spoke to Saif. And we need to get a script in place. That is the most important thing. So when spoke, he said that let’s find a great script out. And I think we are gonna get that started. And it has to be good on paper, right? There’s no sense of doing a sequel if what we have on paper is not strong. So, I think the intent is to get that done. So there is no point on making a sequel until you are strong on paper. I think that’s what Saif also believes and that’s what I also believe. We have wanted to but we haven’t done a film for a while. The intent is to, you know, put together a fantastic script and we’ll get into it once Luka Chuppi releases,” Dinesh said.

Go Goa Gone 2 will bring back the original cast – Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu, Vir Das, Anand Tiwari together for yet another interesting story.

Directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK on how Saif Ali Khan will sport a different avatar in Go Goa Gone sequel

In the five years since Saif Ali Khan’s Go Goa Gone (2013) introduced the genre of zombie comedy in Bollywood, director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK have often expressed their desire to helm a sequel. Now, the makers are ready to roll the project early next year. Tentatively titled Babaji Ki Booty, the second edition will see Khan reprise his role as Boris.

However, his look will be drastically different from the blonde hair-sporting, gun-toting avatar he flaunted in the first instalment.

DK says, “The story kicks off five years after the first edition. We are trying to see how Boris may have changed in the interim.” Nidimoru adds that they intend to zero in on his on-screen avatar by January.

“We have a few sketches drawn out and will crack the look by January. It could be something more mature or more shocking.” The second instalment will see Kunal Kemmu, Vir Das and Anand Tiwari reprise their roles. Reports suggest that they will be seen fighting aliens, this time around. Nidimoru says, ” We’ll head towards an unexpected direction again.”

Open endings in Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Go Goa Gone’, ‘Stree’ make for a sequel: Raj Nidimoru

The overwhelming response to their films with unique plots — zombie apocalypse in “Go Goa Gone” and the urban legend of Nale Ba in “Stree” — has inspired Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK to take these stories forward.

The director duo have started work on “Go Goa Gone” follow-up. The 2013 film featured Saif Ali Khan, Vir Das and Kunal Kemmu that went on to be a surprise hit.

This year, Raj and DK wrote and produced “Stree”. The film starred Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor and Pankaj Tripathi.

“Both the films have an open-ended story because we think as a filmmaker there is more to it. In case of ‘Go Goa Gone’, the first one was unique because there was no precedent to it, like a stoner, a slacker film.

“When we make part two, we give little bit of that (world) and bring something new. Our challenge is that this film should stand out on its own and make it as unique and wacky as possible,” Raj told .

Dinesh reveals that while they aren’t back together for good, they’re taking things as they come.

When Saif Ali Khan and Dinesh Vijan decided to set up Illuminati Films in 2009, the former was the face of the company, and the latter was the experienced producer. After producing a few films like Love Aaj Kal and Cocktail, Dinesh decided to pursue direction, and Saif decided to move on from the partnership. Now, they’re all set to reunite to bankroll the sequel to Go Goa Gone.

Dinesh reveals that while they aren’t back together for good, they’re taking things as they come. “Saif and I have had a fantastic journey. We worked very hard, but we were also lucky to taste the kind of success that we did. We had a natural partnership that worked. Right now, the only film that we are planning to make is the sequel to Go Goa Gone, because we worked together on the first part. We’re taking it one step at a time,” he says.

The producer also denies that he’s had any discussion with Saif regarding a sequel to Hindi Medium. “I haven’t spoken to anyone about the Hindi Medium sequel. The only film we are working on together is the GGG sequel, which Raj and Krishna are currently writing,” he says.

When we ask him about speculations doing the round regarding the film’s casting, he tells us, “We have just completed the first draft of the script. We will only move ahead with casting when we have the final draft and clarity on Irrfan Khan’s situation. Until then, everything is just speculation.”

Filmmaker duo Raj and D.K., who are currently basking in the success of their horror-comedy Stree, are reportedly keen to begin work on their next project — a sequel to Go Goa Gone. And they can’t stop gushing about actor Saif Ali Khan, whom they’ve worked with in the past. “Saif is the most versatile actor I know.

His comic timing is just crazy. We share the same sense of humour, and he gets it just right,” says Raj, adding, “He is up for wacky stuff, so it’s exciting to work with him. The entire Go Goa Gone gang is excited to get back into that world.”

The 2013 film Go Goa Gone was a zombie comedy that told the story of three friends — Hardik (Kunal Kemmu), Luv (Vir Das) and Bunny (Anand Tiwari) — whose dream holiday in Goa turns into a nightmare. Saif Ali Khan played a prominent role in the film, and the filmmakers are hoping to give him a complete makeover for the sequel.

“We have a couple of ideas in mind and we would love to give Saif a cool new look in this film,” says D.K. The film is expected to go on floors in March 2019.

Meanwhile, the filmmakers are thrilled that Stree has been doing so well. “Stree was very close to our hearts. While writing the film, we didn’t know how it would turn out. I am glad that people are liking it and waiting for a sequel,” D.K. says.

From crediting their first feature film Flavors to be their film school to the commercial viability of making a sequel to their 2013-film Go Goa Gone, director duo Raj Nidimoru-Krishna DK reveals it all.

Five years after zombie comedy Go Goa Gone, the director duo Raj Nidimoru & Krishna D.K. have announced its sequel. The original film starred Saif Ali Khan, Vir Das, Anand Tiwari and Kunal Kemmu in key roles and the quadruple is set to reprise their roles. But did you know the makers never intended a sequel to the 2013-released film?

“Basically we never intended a sequel to Go Goa Gone as it was always about making the next unique film. But with this one film, we have been reminded year after year that we must do a sequel. So we have been thinking about it,” says Raj in an exclusive interaction with ZoomTV.com.
